HEY THERE! I'M YANNIK
I grew up in a village in northeastern Germany, where I spent my childhood exploring nature, playing outdoors, and helping my grandparents in the garden. My teenage years were filled with soccer, calisthenics, and some self-taught gymnastics, inspired by internet resources and the influence of Ido Portal. After finishing school, I spent two transformative years at Modus Movement in Perth, Australia, studying the Ido Portal Method and eventually teaching movement classes. Here I met who would become my first mentor, Mark Bernacchi.
Upon returning to Germany, I enrolled in university and studied sport science in Cologne, focusing on practical training while exploring various sports and disciplines and giving classes and personal training. I completed an internship in Perth, again at Modus, and later trained in Vienna with Marcello Palozzo, which shifted my practice towards a more exploratory approach. I then became involved with Evolve Move Play (EMP) and began facilitating workshops, apprenticing with founder Rafe Kelley, and soon collaborating with my friend and mentor Aaron Martin to help adults learn acrobatics.
Recently, I’ve been studying Naudi Aguilar’s Functional Patterns and adjusting my approach to movement. I am now located in Australia, settling on the Sunshine Coast, and am collaborating with local practitioners and offering movement classes and workshops.
